Comments: Support from Emptifish. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. In a change to the normal format for the gigs, Monty didn't take to the stage for any of the playing of Damned Damned Damned, instead, being ushered to the stage for 'Street Of Dreams' onwards. The playing of 'Happy Talk' between 'Feel The Pain' and 'New Rose' was an unintentional filler due to Pinch having a drum sound issue. Dave Vanian had actually begun 'New Rose' with "Is she really going out with him?", but Pinch was unable to join in at that point. Quips during the sound issues and the actual playing of 'New Rose', included the Captain - "Rat Scabies could play it", again the Captain - "you happy now?", Pinch - "I just want everybody out there to be happy, nevermind me", the Captain - "well they are now they have heard 'Happy Talk'", Pinch - "right, let me see how this very complicated drum beat goes". Mr Vanian then repeated "Is she really going out with him?"... and 'New Rose' was then played. As 'Ignite' calmed ready for its big finale after the audience sing-a-long, Dave Vanian inexplicably sang "I like driving in my car, it is not a Jaguar" (Madness lyric) - additionally, when the 'Ignite' lyrics has finished, he proceeded to sing a verse of Ring Of Fire (Johnny Cash). During the set, there were many references to Dawlish, Teignmouth and surrounding areas - ultimately resulting in much banter between the audience and the band (mainly the Captain) prior to 'Noise Noise Noise' - with placename after placename getting a mention.

Saturday 3 December 2016 - Main Hall, Plymouth University

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, White Rabbit, Wait For The Blackout, Stranger On The Town, Antipope, Love Song, Smash It Up. encore - Plan 9 Channel 7, See Her Tonite, Melody Lee, Noise Noise Noise.

Comments: Support from Blowouts. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Following 'I Feel Alright', the parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was again played by some band members. During 'Disco Man', Dave Vanian's vocals briefly went amiss as he coughed and waved away too much dry ice. 'See Her Tonite' was omitted from the Damned Damned Damned part of the set in error - hence why it was slotted into the encore.

Friday 2 December 2016 - Ocean Room, Pavilion, Weymouth

Comments: Support from The Surfin' Birds. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Between 'Eloise' and 'Under The Floor Again', a verse of Donavan's 'Colours' was sung / played by Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible.

Thursday 1 December 2016 - The Pyramids Centre, Southsea, Portsmouth

Comments: Support from Emptifish. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Following an audience request between 'New Rose' and 'Fish', the now familiar parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was again played by some band members. As with some other shows on this UK tour, trumpet player Chris Coull was an addition to the regular Damned line-up for part of this performance, playing on 'Grimly Fiendish' to 'Alone Again Or' (inclusive). Prior to 'Noise Noise Noise', a short rendition of 'I Do Love To Be Beside The Seaside' was played.

Wednesday 30 November 2016 - Motion, Bristol

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, White Rabbit, Wait For The Blackout, Plan 9 Channel 7, Love Song, Antipope, Smash It Up. encore - Life Goes On, Disco Man, Melody Lee, Noise Noise Noise.

Between 'Fish' and 'See Her Tonite', and following a requested shout from within the audience, the now familiar parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was again played by some band members. Drummer Pinch injured himself during '1 Of The 2' and there was then a slight musical break from this to 'So Messed Up' whilst he had a bandage applied - other members of the band entertaining the audience with various quips during the inactivity. The opening notes to 'Wait For The Blackout' were misplayed, so the song was stopped and restarted. Following some requests shouted from the audience, 'Plan 9 Channel 7' was played rather than the intended 'Stranger On The Town'.

Tuesday 29 November 2016 - Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton

The opening notes to 'Street Of Dreams' were misplayed, so the song was stopped and restarted. The opening to the encore, prior to 'Life Goes On', included spoken snippets of 'The Snooker Song'.

Trumpet player Chris Coull was an addition to the regular Damned line-up for the 3rd show in a row, playing on tracks from 'Grimly Fiendish' to 'Alone Again Or' (inclusive). Additionally, bassist Stu West made way for former Damned bassist Paul Gray to guest on 'Generals' and 'Stranger On The Town'. The line 'Roxanne, you don't have to turn on the red light' (The Police) featured as part of the improvisation by Dave Vanian during 'Ignite'..

Comments: Support from The Pirhanas. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Following 'I Feel Alright', the (fairly regular by now) parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was played by some band members. Trumpet player Chris Coull was an addition to the regular Damned line-up for this gig, playing on 'Generals', 'Grimly Fiendish', 'Eloise', 'Stranger On The Town' and 'Alone Again Or'. When the band returned to the stage for the encore, Roy (aka Captain Barrington-White) was invited to the stage to introduce them - spouting his normal nonsense and singing a short piece of 'Knees Up Mother Brown'.

Comments: Support from The Urban Dogs (featuring Charlie Harper, Alvin Gibbs, Matthew Best, and Tony Feedback deputising for Eddie Knox who was ill). Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Prior to 'I Fall', the Captain incorrectly began playing 'Born To Kill', but was soon halted by other band members. The on stage antics between 'Wait For The Blackout' and 'Love Song', included Dave Vanian briefly quoting some lyrics from Donavan's 'Colours' and then he and some of the band performing a verse (of sorts) of The Kinks' 'Dedicated Follower Of Fashion'. Prior to 'Antipope', on stage activity involved a discussion about which was the best girl in The Avengers. Between 'Plan 9 Channel 7' and 'Smash It Up', a parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was played by some band members.

Sunday 20 November 2016 - O2 ABC, Glasgow

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Amen, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, Wait For The Blackout, Love Song, Antipope, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up. encore - Life Goes On, White Rabbit, Noise Noise Noise.

Comments: Support from The Media Whores. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Between 'Love Song' and 'Antipope', on stage antics were briefly accompanied by Pinch drumming what sounded like a snippet of Cozy Powell's 'Dance With The Devil'. Immediately following 'White Rabbit', another snippet of what sounded like a snippet of Cozy Powell's 'Dance With The Devil' was played by Pinch. Also during this interlude prior to 'Melody Lee', Dave Vanian briefly quoted some lyrics from The Smiths' 'This Charming Man' and then he and some of the band performed a verse (of sorts) of Andy Stewart's 'Donald Where's Your Troosers'.

Saturday 19 November 2016 - O2 Academy, Newcastle

Comments: Support from The Symptoms. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. After '1 Of The 2', Pinch pointed out that 'I Fall' had been omitted - hence why it was included at this point. 'Street Of Dreams' was started but stopped, to allow for a parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' by Monty - at least Pinch and Dave Vanian joined in the snippet this time around, 'Street Of Dreams' was then restarted.

Friday 18 November 2016 - Academy, Manchester

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Amen, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, Wait For The Blackout, Love Song, Antipope, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up. encore - Life Goes On, White Rabbit, Melody Lee.

Comments: Support from The Lovely Eggs. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. Note that the setlist for the night listed the encore as either a) 'White Rabbit', 'Melody Lee', 'Noise Noise Noise', or b) 'Curtain Call' - but neither of these options were actually adhered to on the night.

Thursday 17 November 2016 - O2 Academy, Leeds

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Amen, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, Life Goes On, Wait For The Blackout, Love Song, Antipope, I Just Can't Be Happy Today, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up. encore - White Rabbit, Melody Lee, Noise Noise Noise.

Comments: Support from Penetration. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was again used as an introduction to the Captain's comments about how turgid the music industry had become prior to the new wave of bands emerging around 1976 and this ultimately leading to the the Damned Damned Damned LP. There was a initially a false start to 'See Her Tonite', due to the Captain having a technical problem - whilst this was sorted, a parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was played by Monty.

Wednesday 16 November 2016 - Central Station, Wrexham

Set: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, White Rabbit, Wait For The Blackout, History Of The World, Love Song, I Just Can't Be Happy Today, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up. encore - Curtain Call.

Comments: No support band. Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Fanfare For The Common Man' used as an intro - with the Captain coming on stage requesting it be turned off and explaining that this was the sort of music that brought about punk music and, ultimately, the Damned Damned Damned LP. A parody excerpt of 'Stab Your Back' was played by Monty following 'I Feel Alright'. A small excerpt of 'Wot' preceded 'Disco Man'. Just as 'Ignite' was started, it was halted to hear what was being said from within the audience - "play something decent" was then spoken into the proffered microphone, to which the Captain responded "ok, just for you - here's 'Anarchy In The UK'" - the band then launching into about 45 seconds of... 'Pretty Vacant' (!). As 'Ignite' slowed ready for its final reprise after the audience sing-a-long, someone passed the Captain a hat with ears - Dave Vanian commented "it's the Easter Bunny"... and sang "one pills makes you larger" - Pinch picked-up on this first and began drumming to 'White Rabbit'... the whole band then joning in to play this song rather than complete 'Ignite'.

Wednesday 16 November 2016 - William Aston Hall, Wrexham

Comments: Show moved to Central Station in Wrexham.

Tuesday 15 November 2016 - G Live, Guildford

Set 2: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright.

Encore - Curtain Call.

Comments: Support from The Members. Though 'Sanctum Sanctorum' was used as the intro to this show, it was only a pre-recorded excerpt - the band continuing to tweak the set in an effort to get it down to a length that could be performed over approximately 2 hours. There was a very short break between Set 1 and Set 2, with not all members of the band even bothering to leave the stage.

Sunday 13 November 2016 - Rock City, Nottingham

Set 1: Sanctum Sanctorum, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Amen, Disco Man, Eloise, Under The Floor Again, Ignite, Life Goes On, Wait For The Blackout, History Of The World, Limit Club, Love Song, Antipope, I Just Can't Be Happy Today, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up.

Set 2: Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Feel The Pain, Born To Kill, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright.

Comments: No support band. There was a very short break between sets. Prior to 'Under The Floor Again', Dave Vanian sang a line from 'Jimmy Crack Corn' (traditional) and a couple of lines from 'It's Only Make Believe' (Elvis Presley). As with the previous night, there was no actual encore - the setlist for the evening had 'Curtain Call' listed as the intended encore, but it was not played. This was one of a number of shows on the tour where access passes could be purchased to 'meet and greet' the band and to watch the soundcheck - at this soundcheck, 'Under The Floor Again', 'White Rabbit', 'Smash It Up' and 'Rabid' were performed.

Saturday 12 November 2016 - The Assembly, Leamington

Set: Sanctum Sanctorum, Street Of Dreams, Nasty, Limit Club, Disco Man, Amen, Shadow Of Love, Eloise. Under The Floor Again, Ignite, Life Goes On, Wait For The Blackout, History Of The World, Love Song, Antipope, I Just Can't Be Happy Today, Plan 9 Channel 7, Smash It Up, Neat Neat Neat, Fan Club, I Fall, Born To Kill, Feel The Pain, New Rose, Fish, See Her Tonite, 1 Of The 2, So Messed Up, I Feel Alright.

Comments: No support band. Sound problems developed immediately following 'Fan Club' (vocals could not be heard and music sound was greatly reduced), and continued through a short parody of 'Stab Your Back' played by Monty, 'I Fall' and 'Born To Kill' before the band realised that there was an issue for the audience - resulting in approximately 7 minutes of inactivity for things to be rectified prior to 'Feel The Pain'. There was no actual encore break, though at least one band member briefly left the stage following 'Smash It Up' whilst the Captain introduced the playing of the songs from Damned Damned Damned. The setlist for the evening had 'Curtain Call' listed as the intended encore, but it was not played.

Encore: Curtain Call.

Comments: No support band played on this night, instead, The Damned played one of their longest ever (known) shows on this date (though the exact amount of stage time is unconfirmed, it is assumed to be around 170 minutes). The show at the Gramercy on the previous night, the 29th, is assumed to be the longest, as it included a short period of on stage inactivity due to guitar sound problems. Jason Crane of Rocket From The Crypt augmented the normal Damned line-up by playing the trumpet on some numbers.

Previously the show at The Royal Albert Hall (RAH) on 20 May 2016 was the longest known performance... though shows on 27 and 30 October will have been of similar length to this and the RAH show. Jason Crane of Rocket From The Crypt augmented the normal Damned line-up by playing the trumpet on some numbers.

Comments: No support band played on this night, instead, The Damned played one of their longest ever (known) shows on this date (though the exact amount of stage time is unconfirmed, it is assumed to be around 170 minutes). Previously the show at The Royal Albert Hall on 20 May 2016 was the longest known performance. Jason Crane of Rocket From The Crypt augmented the normal Damned line-up by playing the trumpet on some numbers.

Tuesday 11 October 2016 - Proud, Camden, London

Set: Wait For The Blackout, History Of The World, Shadow Of Love, New Rose, Love Song, Second Time Around, Antipope, Smash It Up.

Comments: Advertised as a 'Lock-in Live' event, filmed,  and scheduled for a future live broadcast.  Four bands appeared - Dead! (playing 3 numbers), Mallory Knox (playing 3 numbers), Enter Shikari (playing 3 numbers - one of which was repeated due to guitar problems the first time), and The Damned (a setlist of the first 4 numbers above... but actually carried on and also played the last 4 numbers above).  Tickets for the event were advertised on the internet the week before the show, were free, but only available to those  applying by means of a prize draw.

Saturday 10 September 2016 - Valada do Ribatejo, Portugal (Reverence Festival)

Comments: Reverence Festival. The Damned played The Palco Rio Stage. Schedule for this stage on the Saturday / Sunday morning was - Steak [16:50-17:30], The Veldt [18:20-19:00], Mecanosphere [18:40-20:30], The Damned [21:20-22:20], The Sisters Of Mercy [23:30-00:50], Radar Men From The Moon [01:50-02:40], Earth Drive [03:40-04:30]. Session drummer Stephen Gilchrist again deputised for the absent Pinch. Note that setlist for the night indicated the main set should finish with 'Fan Club' and 'Smash It Up', and then an encore of 'Nasty', 'Antipope' and 'Shadow Of Love', but this simply didn't happen due to the band running out of time - hence also the reason for only playing Part 2 of 'Smash It Up'. There were false starts to 'Smash It Up', at least one of which was due to Stephen Gilchrist being unfamiliar with breaking straight into Part 2.

Comments: Beautiful Days Festival. The Damned played The Big Top stage. Line-up for the Saturday on The Big Top stage was intended to be - (opening act) Avital Raz, (second) Sound Of The Sirens, (third) Ward Thomas, (fourth) Stick In The Wheel, (fifth) The Membranes, (sixth) Martin Carthy, (seventh) The Oh Hellos, (eighth) The Damned, (headlining) Tricky. The Damned were advertised to play Damned Damned Damned - which they did [with the exception of 'Stab Your Back']. Intro music and Damned Damned Damned took approximately 35 minutes to play and the band then proceeded to play numbers that they had not played on the Main stage the previous day. After approximately 50 minutes the band launched into 'Eloise', so it looked like they were booked to play for an hour and would close-out with this number and 'Smash It Up', however, when they instead followed 'Eloise' with 'Ignite and 'Stranger On The Town', it became obvious that something unplanned was occurring. Following 'Nasty', Dave Vanian eventually made the announcement "We've been asked to play for a little longer" and further song after further song was rolled out as part of the set... 'on the hoof' and with incredible gusto... finally culminating in 'Smash It Up' after approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes [note - there was no encore break]. Following their performance, The Damned were thanked by the compere for extending their set and it was announced that Tricky would not be headlining due to illness [finally explaining the extended Damned set that had just taken place]. During the performance it was obvious that some audience members had come just to hear Damned Damned Damned performed, as there was a small but noticeable thinning to the crowd, however, as the show continued and events unfolded the audience again packed-out the Big Top, and The Damned's performance seemed to 'go down a storm' - and for those familiar with Damned performances, realising that they has just witnessed something 'rather special'.

Set played straight through with no encore break. The version Of 'Happy Talk' was only a short rendition.

Wednesday 17 August 2016 - Guildhall, Gloucester

Comments: Support from Damon T. The playing of 'Turkey Song' in the encore was unintended - occurring following a shouted request from within the audience... to which the Captain replied "Is that a dare?"... and the band proceeded to play the song - that said, after a verse or so, it morphed into a 'lyrics-made-up-as-it-went-along' version.

Comments: Part of the Way Out West Festival - though The Damned's appearance actually indicated for the early morning as 'Stay Out West', with times indicated as 00:00 Sleaford Mods, 01:15 Flag, 02:45 The Damned... so The Damned basically playing Sunday 14th!

Comments: Support from Dohnut and Cosmic Cat. Roy (Captain Barrington-White of the Dr Spacetoad Experience) came on stage at the beginning of the show for 'his own brand' of generally tomfoolery before The Damned took to the stage. He was back on stage for further antics between 'Disco Man' and 'Smash It Up'.

However, 'Alone Again Or' and 'Stranger On The Town' were not broadcast, but were on the setlist, and are thought to have been played as intended on the night - indicating that the broadcast was probably cut... so as to come in at a running time of just under an hour.

Comments: This show was intended as an official celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Damned as a live band. No support band played on this night, instead, The Damned playing their longest ever (known) show (to this date) - approximately 171 minutes stage time (which would be surpassed again during at least one show in the USA during October 2016... the 29 October show is known to have been longer, and other October shows in Los Angeles and New York would certainly have been a similar, if not greater, length than the Royal Albert Hall) [previously the show at The Talking Heads in Southampton on 15 November 2008 was the longest known gig]. Clive Jackson, the Doctor of Dr & The Medics, introduced the band having got in touch and offering his services. [The Dr and The Damned have a long history together, having toured together, and having links with The Alice in Wonderland projects that the Dr was innvolved in during the early 80's - during The Alice period, mainly under The Damned's alias of Naz Nomad & The Nightmares]. The show was played as 2 Sets, plus a single encore number. Trumpet player Chris Coull was an addition to the regular Damned line-up for this show, playing on a few of the tracks. Additionally, Emily Vanian (12 years old daughter of singer Dave Vanian) played violin parts on the encore number, 'Curtain Call'.

'Noise Noise Noise' was made available by Captain Sensible on the internet.

Gig played as 2 Sets with no encore. Trumpet player Chris Coull was an addition to the regular Damned line-up for this show, playing on a few of the tracks.
